Herschel Walker Runs for Warnock Senate Seat

Although the 2022 midterm elections are more than a year away, campaign bombshells are already dropping in 2021.  States like Florida have highly anticipated races but the state of Georgia, which flipped to blue in 2020, now has one heck of a GOP candidate looking to flip Georgia back to red.  Football legend, Herschel Walker, has officially announced he will run for Senate in Georgia.

Although this is not happening in Florida, Walker's candidacy could have major implications on a national level.  A beloved football player and avid Donald Trump ally, the former Heisman Trophy winner is seeking to unseat incumbent Senator Raphael Warnock (D-GA) who soundly narrowly Senator Loeffler (R-GA) in 2020.

Walker has had a close relationship with Trump since the 1980s when he played on a Trump-owned team in the United States Football League. The pair’s relationship is expected to be key in Walker’s bid to stand out in Georgia’s GOP primary.

Today, Walker insists that the 2020 election was "stolen" and what better place to run than one of the few states Republicans pushed for a statewide audit of.

A Walker candidacy could revolutionize the political atmosphere on a multitude of levels.  A win over Warnock would prove that the Democrat sweep of the state of Georgia in 2020 was merely a fluke, or not as safe ground as Democrats had hoped.  Also, as an African-American, even an unsuccessful candidacy would very well compliment the up-and-coming "Blexit" movement in the United States.
