Federal Judge Blocks Biden Immigration Policy, DeSantis Responds

Share

As the United States continues to be plagued with crises both domestic and foreign,  the illegal immigration crisis along the U.S. southern border continues with no end in sight. Once again, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) is leading the charge on illegal immigration, supporting the decision of a federal judge who "blocked" the Biden Administrations' new illegal immigrant arresting policy.

"The Biden Administration authorized dangerous criminal aliens to be released into our communities. That policy is not only dangerous but violates the law. Yesterday, that was confirmed by a federal judge," tweeted Gov. DeSantis.

According to Reuters.com, "A federal judge on Thursday blocked President Joe Biden's administration from enforcing its guidance limiting those who can be arrested and deported by U.S. immigration agents, siding with two Republican-led states - Texas and Lousiana - that had challenged it."

Not surprisingly, Biden recently announced that only certain levels of immigrants may be arrested, such as high-risk criminals, while his predecessor, President Trump (R) allowed ICE to target low-level offenders.

Trump-appointed U.S. District Judge Drew Tipton, in Corpus Christi, TX., ruled that the February guidance from the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency violated federal law requiring that the government "shall detain" people who commit certain crimes or are otherwise deemed eligible for deportation.

DeSantis, who has arguably taken more action on the border than Vice President Harris (D), took to Twitter this week to further chastise the Biden Administration for "dangerous and "law violating policy" that was confirmed by a federal judge and authorized by President Biden (D).

The Floridian spoke to Taryn Fenske, Governor DeSantis' Communications Director, who boldly stated that "Florida has not sat by and watched as the federal government sets criminal aliens free and abdicates its legal obligation to enforce immigration law."  Fenske elaborated on the governor's decision  this summer to send Florida law enforcement agents to Texas, saying that he  "announced that state and local law enforcement officers are committed to deploy to Texas to provide additional resources in response to the border crisis."

Fenske then called the Texas federal judge's decision on illegal immigration the "latest legal blow for the Biden Administration's immigration policies, which have faced a series of lawsuits."

Unlike many politicians, DeSantis has been consistent in his views of illegal immigration.  In 2015, the then-Congressman DeSantis stated in regard to President Barack Obama's use of his power to grant amnesty for illegals, saying that "we have a duty to use our constitutional power to check that," adding,  "We're a nation of laws and live under a Constitution.  If we lose that, then we really lose our uniqueness as a nation."
