As reports continue to document the shifting political landscape in Afghanistan, lawmakers in the United States calling for the Biden Administration to respond to the concerns. On Social Media, Florida Rep. Ted Deutch (D) released a statement, calling it “the Fall of Afghanistan.” Subsequently, Deutch joined his Congressional colleagues in directing a letter to President Joe Biden (D), “requesting needed information from the Admin on evacuation efforts” for Americans that are stuck in the country.
In his statement, Deutch expressed that he was “devastated by what we are seeing unfold in Afghanistan.”
He added that “the commitment and sacrifice of so many American servicemembers, diplomats, officials, aid workers, and contractors, as well as their Afghan partners that offered invaluable support to our nation, must always be remembered, appreciated, and repaid” before asserting that “to the Americans who gave their lives in defense of U.S. security and American interests and to prove a better future for Afghanistan, we will be forever indebted to them and their families.”
While many have tried to flee the country either by plane or car, it has been difficult for many that have not been able to escape the country.
As a result, Deutch has joined other lawmakers in directing a letter to President Biden, arguing that “U.S. citizens, Afghan allies and their families, women, NGL employees, journalists, and so many others” are “stuck in Afghanistan fearing for their lives and the future of the country.”
We remain focused on getting all Americans and others at risk out of Afghanistan. We have a moral obligation to do so.

Sharing the letter on Twitter, Deutch affirmed that lawmakers “remain focused on getting all Americans and others at risk out of Afghanistan” because lawmakers “have a moral obligation to do so.”
A number of Democrats from across the country signed on to the letter concerning "a dire, humanitarian emergency that requires our immediate attention."
Republicans like Senator Rick Scott have called into question Biden's mental ability to lead as a result of the evacuation debacle.
