As the Chinese Communist Party celebrates its centennial (100-year mark) in 2021, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) has advanced his long history of criticizing President Xi Jinping, saying that the anniversary " is a cause for sorrow, not celebration."
In a Tweet yesterday, Rubio who has passed anti-CCP legislation with Senator Rick Scott (R-FL), called out the CCP for human rights violations through a video:
"The Chinese Communist Party and the government that it controls believes that is its rightful place to be at the center of the world," adding "it views the last 100 years as an aberration it intends to correct. They have no interest in adhering to the rules of a post-war and international system that we helped create. Instead, they seek to upend it, or replace it."
Senator Rubio also cracked down on the CCP's neglect of personal freedoms, mentioning the CCP "forcing over 1 million Muslims into labor camps," in addition to "the systematic oppression of all religions. Islam, Buddhism, Christianity, Judaism, alike," in addition to "the crackdown on political dissent at home and freedom of expression everywhere."
The Senator has also voiced concerns in the past about the growing Chinese presence in Latin America, warning against the dangers of oppressive governments.
Rubio summarized his disdain with the CCP's action, claiming "the stakes could not be higher because the outcome will define the 21st Century."
