Sabatini Blasts 'Shameless' Murphy and January 6th Committee

Share

Now almost 7 months after the January 6th attacks, the partisan January 6th Congressional Select Committee has convened. While Democrats have called the hearing a necessity, the GOP has bashed the committee as political theatre, especially Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) who has called the committee, and Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL) "shameless."

Rep. Murphy, who has been one of the most outspoken members of Congress on January 6th, was quickly appointed to the committee after its controversial assembly.  However, she is also up for a tight election against state Rep. Sabatini who has put huge dents in her "moderate" appeal, calling her a "radical leftist" in his most recent tweets.

Rep. Sabatini may not be too far off, as ProPublica records Stephanie Murphy's voting record aligning with self-proclaimed Socialist figures like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez (D-NY) roughly 90% of the time.

Sabatini took to Twitter yesterday in which he used his opponent's seniority on the January 6th Committee that he called a "total disgrace.":

State Rep. Sabatini also made reference to the Black Lives Matter riots that consumed the entire country in the Summer of 2020 and alluded to the controversial death of Ashli Babbitt, asking in his most recent Tweet: "When will the #J6 committee tell us who brutally murdered Ashli Babbitt?"

Murphy and Sabatini, who will be battling it out for District 7 in November 2022, couldn't be more polarizing on this issue. Since Day 1, Rep. Murphy has been in favor of passing provisions to prevent further January 6th-like incidents from happening again, while Sabatini has worked to prevent Capitol Police from working in Florida with one of his more recent bills in the Florida State Legislature.

The state representative also called out Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) and Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-IL) adding to the Trump GOP's intense accusations of being RINOs (Republican In Name Only) as Sabatini called for their expulsion from the House Republican Conference, calling them "Absolutely disgusting people."
