With election season next year, Florida is looking to once again host some of the tightest races in the entire country. However, some familiar faces like Amanda Makki (R) are making a comeback as Makki once again announces a run for Congress, and sets up a Republican primary rematch against Anna Paulina Luna.
Makki appeared to be the front runner in 2020 primary but ultimately lost by a margin of 7% to Luna. Eventually, Rep. Charlie Crist (D-FL) preserved his incumbency against Luna in the general election.
But with Crist gone and having already seen what Luna could do on the general election stage, the Republicans have a real shot to flip this seat if they play their cards right, and if redistricting turns out the way Republicans hope it will.
Makki is a former Washington D.C.-based lobbyist and claims to have "PROVEN conservative values," and has seemingly embraced Trump politics into her campaign platform.
In her latest email blast, Makki vowed to "work to reinstate President Trump's border security policies, rein in the out-of-control spending, support our Veterans, ensure our elections are secure, and keep radical leftist propaganda out of our schools."
On Monday, Makki made a point of mentioning her longstanding support for Trump and that she worked as an attorney for the 2020 Trump recount efforts in Wisconsin.
Makki has most recently centered her campaign around election integrity, persevering gun rights, and limiting abortions. And with a slim Democrat majority in the House, a nominee like Makki could very well likely get the GOP majority back in 2022.
