Roach: 'Critical Race Theory is total bulls***'

Share

After more than 20 states have banned Critical Race Theory education, some have remained critical of Florida's decision to ban CRT like state Senator Shevrin Jones (D-35) who called the move an attempt to "whitewash" children.  However, State Representative Spencer Roach (R-79) has fired back in a newly released ad, calling CRT "bulls***."

Rep. Roach has been a loud voice on education ever since Lee County school's upheld a controversial bathroom policy, and he appeared on a Fox News radio show calling school board elections "more important than the presidency," remaining critical of how many school board officials in Florida identify as "Leftists."

In a newly released radio ad, Roach pledges to fight "state-sanctioned racism," and does not feel that the ban on CRT is strong enough.

The Floridian reached out to Roach last week where he characterized CRT as "opinion not fact, we should not be teaching these things to children as if they are facts."

"Like I said on the radio, what this is doing is teaching to hate their country, hate each other, and it is teaching them to hate themselves," said Roach standing firmly behind Governor DeSantis' "one red cent," claim. "The root of a lot of our problems can be traced back to the deterioration of our public education system all over the country, we are desperate for reform in our K-12 classrooms," adding that kids need to learn "fundamentals and basic life skills, not indoctrination."

Rep. Roach has also promised his constituents to give the CRT ban "the force of law," and plans to file a bill as early as the next session.  No further details were revealed but it is safe to assume the legislation will further the integrity of the ban on CRT.

For Roach, DeSantis' ban was "a good first step" but  he still has concerns that it won't hold up since the ban by the Board of Education "does not actually mention Critical Race Theory in the language of the ban."

Roach wants to ensure that we close "all the backdoors to prevent teachers from indoctrinating our students.  I will get the most bulletproof legislation against this."

Recently the Florida legislature has worked on the state's voucher program, adding $200 million in funding to allow 61,000 new parents to take their kids out of what Roach calls "government [public] schools."

One solution Roach offered is to simply "get your kid out of a government school," and utilize the expanding voucher programs in Florida.
