New Poll: 78% of Capitol Aides Believe GOP Will Take Back the House

As we head into the 2022 election season, a lot is on the line for races across the country, especially on the federal level.  However, Democrats retaining the House majority is becoming seemingly less likely, as a new poll shows that 78% of senior Capitol Hill aides believe the GOP will re-take the House in 2022.

In the new poll released on Monday, Breitbart pushed out Punchbowl News' data that showed an overwhelming majority of staffers believing in a Republican midterm victory next November, up 12% from the same poll taken in April 2021.

The poll also incorporated a partisan breakdown which reflected 57% of Democrat Capitol Hill staffers believing Republicans will regain control as well as an astounding 99% of all Republican staffers.

The poll was conducted between April 11 to 28 among 158 senior Capitol Hill aides, which includes the chief of staff, legislative directors, communications directors, press secretaries, and staff directors.

The previous poll released in April shows that a staggering 66% of respondents just a month before believed Republicans would retake the majority, with only 36% of those respondents being Democrats, who believed they will not win again in 2022.

Breitbart, who first reported on the data confirmed Punchbowl News reported the data because "Members of Congress are the ones with election certificates, but in many cases, their aides hold outsized power," adding  "Senior staffers are the gatekeepers and, in many cases, the decision-makers."

With redistricting in the mix this could all change, as state Rep. Anthony Sabatini (R-32) has recently reannounced his campaign for Congress against popular incumbent Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D-FL).

Based on projected maps in Florida … this morning I OFFICIALLY filed for the new District 7 congressional seat,” Sabatini posted. “This pits my campaign against America-Last, corrupt Democrat Rep. Stephanie Murphy. Support my America First campaign.”
