Matt Gaetz Demands Briefing on Wuhan Lab Investigation

Share

As we recover from the COVID-19 pandemic that has left over 600,000 Americans dead, media outlets appear to have changed their tune on the virus and have begun to question the origins of COVID-19.  Public figures like Sen. Tom Cotton (AR) have been on this for a while now, but today Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) has sent a letter to the FBI demanding a briefing of the whistleblower Wuhan Lab investigation.

Earlier this month, during a House Judiciary Committee hearing, Rep. Gaetz questioned Director Wray directly on the FBI’s potential mislabeling of Dr. Yan as a counterintelligence threat – after Dr. Yan fled to the United States in an attempt to expose the true origins of COVID-19.

The representative sent the following letter this morning to FBI Director Christopher Wray requesting a classified briefing on the FBI’s interactions with Dr. Li-Meng Yan, a whistleblower, and defector from China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology:

The Honorable Christopher Wray
Federal Bureau of Investigation
935 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20535

Director Wray:

During our public hearing in the House Judiciary Committee on June 10, 2021, I asked you about the FBI’s interactions with Doctor Li-Meng Yan. In response, you stated that you cannot comment on ongoing investigations.

As a member of the Judiciary Committee with oversight authority over your Bureau, I request the FBI to provide me and my colleagues interested in this subject matter with a classified briefing detailing the FBI’s interactions with Dr. Yan.

I am particularly concerned the FBI may have mislabeled Dr. Yan as a counterintelligence threat, when in reality she was a whistleblower, defector, and fact witness with critical information about the role the Chinese Communist Party had in the origins of the COVID-19 pandemic.

I expect this classified briefing to take place within two weeks of this request. Please be in touch with my chief of staff to organize this meeting.

Sincerely,

Matt Gaetz

Member of Congress
