Rep. Colleen Burton (R) is challenging for Florida’s Senate District 22, and she’s just picked up two endorsements from lawmakers that are vying for the 2024-2026 Senate presidency. After being endorsed by Senate President Wilton Simpson (R) and future Senate President Kathleen Passidomo (R), the Senate hopeful has now picked up endorsements from state Senator Manny Diaz, Jr. (R) and state Senator Ben Albritton (R).

Both Senators had glowing reviews to share regarding the work that Rep. Burton has done as a lawmaker.

“Rep. Burton has proven herself as a hardworking Florida conservative who promotes life, liberty and justice for Floridians,” said Senator Diaz, adding that “her time in the House has fully prepared her to be a strong voice for Florida’s 22nd Senate District, and I can think of no one more prepared for the task ahead.”

Britton commented that “during her time in the Florida House, Colleen has done an incredible job advocating for conservative values that help our rural communities,” noting that Colleen “has promoted policies that increase jobs, protect life and defend freedoms.” “She knows what it takes, and I have every bit of confidence she will continue to do the same as a Florida Senator,” he concluded.

Burton is challenging for the seat because state Senator Kelly Stargel (R) is term-limited. Last week, Stargel endorsed Burton, calling her a “friend” who “is a true conservative” and “who has a strong record of fighting for family values, and creating an environment where businesses can prosper and create jobs.”

Benny Valentin (R) is also running for the Republican nomination, and the primary election is currently scheduled to be held on August 23rd, 2022. Valentin has run for House District 42 as a Democrat in 2016, and as a Republican in 2020, but both attempts were unsuccessful.
