When Sen. Bernie Sanders urged constituents and supporters to “stand united against” antisemitism and Islamaphobia, former Jewish-American Democratic congressional candidate, Progressive Attorney Jen Perelman tweeted her support for the Palestinian plight in Gaza and The West Bank, and has blamed the antisemitic attacks in the U.S. on Israel.
Perleman resently stated that the hate Sen. Sanders was referring to would end when the U.S. threatens to pull the $ 4 billion it gives annually to Israel.
“When the $4 billion in annual aid from to is on the table, is when this all ends. #SavePalestine,” tweeted Perelman.
Perelman’s tweet was met with sharp criticism, which prompted Perelman to respond and explain herself.
“This is 1 time I’m going to explain myself to those who are twisting my words & calling me a “bad Jew”: IMHO, the only way the BOMBS stop dropping is when financial aid to is threatened to be cut," responded Perelman.
Perelman, who has stated in the past that she was “pro-Israel,” was accused of suggesting that extorting Israel to stop the violence the terrorist group Hamas began when they initially and indiscriminately began to fire rockets into Israel.
“Is it even just being implied? She’s explicitly stating that unless the US stops giving aid, this won’t stop....sounds a lot like extortion,” stated one individual
Earlier this month, Perelman made another anti-Israel, pro-Palestinian remark and also suggested that U.S. financial aid to Israel be cut off.
Since the Hamas-provoked violence began just a couple of weeks ago, antisemitic attacks committed by Palestinians living in the U.S., particularly in prominent Jewish-American neighborhoods.
Failing or refusing to acknowledge the thousands of missiles having been fired into Israel from Gaza, Perelman has squarely placed blame for these attacks against Jews in the U.S. on Israel, saying the “continued bombing by Israeli armed forces on Palestinians" was directly responsible for the attacks in the U.S.
“Bc of continued bombing by Israeli armed forces on Palestinians, my fellow Jews are now being targeted. The Anti-Semitism is now raging. I VEHEMENTLY condemn this violence. financial aid to must be halted until a peaceful solution is reached,”
Reps. Ted Deutch and Debbie Wasserman Schultz (Pereleman’s 2020 Democratic congressional opponent) have shown unwavering support for the state of Israel and condemned the actions of Palestinian and Hamas terrorists during the recent conflict.
“Those who seek to destroy the state of Israel like Hamas and Islamic Jihad are intentionally using terrorist attacks to sow instability,” stated Rep. Wasserman Schultz. “No nation or people should be subject to a barrage of rocket fire or have to endure this kind of bloody assault.
Wasserman Schultz does not believe that the ongoing antisemitic attacks being carried out in the U.S. are Israels fault.
Perelman is rumored to be considering another run for congress against Wasserman Schultz in 2022.
