Eskamani, Democrats Press Ahead With More Divisive and Racial Rhetoric

Share

Florida State Rep, Anna Eskamani (D), the young, bubbly, and likable legislator from Orlando has once again played the race card after a Black Georgia legislator, Park Cannon (D), was detained by Georgia troopers for knocking on Gov. Brian Kemp’s door after being told to step back from the doorway.

“Georgia Republicans passed a voter suppression bill & then when Rep. @cannon58 KNOCKED on the Governor’s door to see him sign a bill, she was arrested," tweeted Rep. Eskamani. "Is this the “mob intimidation” my colleagues are talking about or are folks just looking for more ways to arrest black people?"

Rep. Eskamani and other Progressive legislators like Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith appear quick to flash that racially-divisive Ace of Spades card whenever they deem it necessary to do so.

And what she is talking about when she questions what her “colleagues are talking about” is S B 90, the  Florida Senate measure that would do away with ballot drop boxes and mail-in ballots.

The bill, and other bills like it that tighten voter integrity measures, are being called racists because legislators like Eskamani and her ‘Republicans are looking for more ways to arrest black people’ remarks fuel the racism and voter suppression narratives.

This past Thursday, Agriculture Commissioner Nikki Fried echoed the claim that SB 90 was nothing more than a bill penned by Republicans to suppress Black votes.

“Republicans in the Florida Legislature are doing everything they can to turn back time — to a place where people didn’t have the right to vote, didn’t have access to the ballot box,” said Commissioner Fried. “We have to fight voter suppression everywhere, every time.”
