Wasserman Schultz: Trump supporters 'ready to kill anyone who stood in their way'

There have been many over-the-top accusations made against former President Donald Trump over the actions of the Right-Wing extremists that stormed the Capitol on January 6th,  but the one remark that has been levied against President Trump and his supporters that clearly stands out above all other remarks is the comment made by Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D).

On the final day that House impeachment managers had to make their case against President Trump, Rep. Wasserman Schultz tweeted that those Trump supporters that stormed the U.S. Capitol were “ready to kill anyone who stood in their way.”

“The attack we survived on January 6 never would have happened but for Donald Trump,” stated Rep. Wasserman Schultz. “His supporters came, draped in Trump's flag, ready to kill anyone who stood in their way while the Inciter-in-Chief egged them on. He must be convicted. #ImpeachmentTrial

Hundreds of rioters faced down dozens of Capitol Police officers that stood in their way.

Wasserman Schultz is echoing Democratic talking points about Trump, saying that he “incited” and ordered his supporters to storm the capitol and wreak havoc.

Demings still pushing for full GOP riot accountability

While House Democrats are using video clips of Trump’s speech that preceded the riot in an effort to demonize his actions and paint him as the “inciter-in-chief,” the one video clip that Democrats will not show is the moment when Trump pressed for supporters to “peacefully and patriotically” make their voices heard.

"We have come to demand that Congress do the right thing and only count the electors who have been lawfully slated, lawfully slated,” said President Trump. “I know that everyone here will soon be marching over to the Capitol building to peacefully and patriotically make your voices heard.”

Because Democrats must garner 67 Senate votes to convict Trump, the trial was already dead on arrival. Only a few Republicans, including Sen. Mitt Romney, are expected to vote to convict.

Senate Democrats are considering invoking the 14th Amendment to the Constitution, which states that Congress could prevent people who "engaged in insurrection or rebellion" against the country from ever holding public office.

"No person shall be a Senator or Representative in Congress, or elector of President and Vice President, or hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof," reads the amendment.
