Rubio Says Biased Media Rhetoric "Isn't Healthy" For America

Share

Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) took verbal aim at President Joe Biden (D) and his administration this past weekend, arguing that Biden still isn’t delivering on his promise to unite the country as it continues to face the COVID-19 pandemic. Moreover, the Sunshine State lawmaker noted that this has proven to be more divisive with the input of the mainstream media.

In an email to supporters at the end of January, Senator Rubio admitted that “despite the rhetoric from the liberal media, the GOP is the party that elected President Trump and provided a voice for the unheard and the forgotten.” And, in a time when the COVID-19 pandemic has affected different aspects of Americans’ lives, “tens of millions of Americans still feel this economy isn’t working for people like them, feel socially displaced and even like strangers in their own country.”

In winning the presidency, President Biden assured that he would be undoing the last four years of the Trump administration, but Senator Rubio believes this is a disservice to the American people because “Donald Trump did not create those things. He got elected because of those things.”

However, in moving forward, Democratic lawmakers are committed to pursuing criminal charges against the former President. Since the storming of the Capitol on January 6th, lawmakers have asserted that the President and a number of GOP lawmakers are to blame for the riot. Though Rubio has voiced his disagreement with going after President Trump, he has admitted that the media is partially responsible for the contentious atmosphere in Washington and across the United States.

On Twitter, Rubio shared that we’re living in a time when “’Truth’ is decided by a small group in media, tech & gov who justify government by executive decree as normal & necessary and label anyone who doesn’t fall in line as either sycophants or extremists.”

For him, “this isn’t healthy” and the larger implications is that “it isn’t sustainable.”

The GOP has faced growing infighting while trying to steer the party forward as it heads towards the 2022 midterm elections.
