With Democrats in full control of the U.S. Congress, the idea that they would push forth a very aggressive liberal-minded and progressive gun ban agenda, that would include the banning of all semi-automatic firearms, has become a reality.
For years, Democrats have pushed for a ban on "weapons of war" or "assault rifles" they believe should not be sold to everyday Americans. Now, Rep. Ted Deutch (D), who has pushed for a ban on those rifles Democrats claim are "weapons of war," is not going a bit further and calling for a gun ban on all "semi-automatic assault weapons."
"The National Firearms Act makes our communities safer from the most dangerous weapons," stated Rep. Deutch. "We should expand it to include mass shooters’ firearms of choice: semi-automatic assault weapons."
The Center for American Progress states that "Assault weapons are semi-automatic firearms" that "fire a round every time the trigger is pulled."
"Assault weapons are semi-automatic firearms—meaning that they fire a round every time the trigger is pulled—that are capable of accepting a detachable magazine and have another military-style feature such as a pistol grip, a folding stock, or a threaded barrel..."
According to his legislative website, in 2019, Deutch joined "Congressman Cicilline (RI-01) and 185+ other Members of Congress to reintroduce the Assault Weapons Ban, which would ban the sale, manufacture, or possession of new military-style assault weapons."
Rep. Deutch has already cosponsored legislation to ban semi-automatic rifles and shotguns, but now he has broadened the scope of his desired gun ban, including all semi-automatic handguns.
Every single handgun, including revolvers, "fire a round every time the trigger is pulled."
The gun measure sure passed the House, but will most likely die over in the Senate. Moderate Democrat Senators like Sens. Kristen Sinema and Joe Manchin will most-likely vote against the measure.
