FL Emergency Management Director, Moskowitz, Resigns Mid-Vaccine Rollout

Share

After leading an unprecedented pandemic response team in the state of Florida, Jared Moskowitz, the Emergency Management Director of Florida, has resigned.

Moskowitz has seized responsibility for vaccine distribution and ensuring the safety of frontline workers for almost a year now, even as his fellow Democrats have cast dispersion against his and Gov. Ron DeSantis' efforts.

Today he issued a statement claiming he will turn in his formal resignation early Tuesday and will leave effective on April 30th.

Although Moskowitz does not have his eyes on a new occupation, he looks forward to, "Family time", as the Pandemic has obstructed his attention from his two sons, Samuel, 7, and Max, 4.

Moskowitz best characterized the job he did as, "a demanding and stressful role that has taken a toll on my family life."

Although the timeline is vague, Moskowitz will be departing alongside DeSantis' chief of staff, Shane Strum, who will be joining Broward Health as their new CEO. Prior to taking the job with the state, Moskowitz told The Floridian that he was interested in running for the U.S. Congress, if and when Rep. Ted Deutch (D) decided to step down, or if he decided to run for an open U.S. Senate seat.

Senator Rubio has decided to run of reelection to the senate, so Deutch will not be running for that position anytime soon.
