Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D) has penned a letter to President Joe Biden urging him to revisit his COVID-19 vaccination disbursement plan because it is failing to adequately address the healthcare needs of Floridians.
“My request is simple and rooted in science: adjust the vaccine distribution formula to increase COVID vaccine allotments in states, like Florida, with disproportionately high numbers of seniors,” stated Rep. Murphy.
Rep. Murphy’s letter all but destroys the argument that Florida Democrats have made against Gov. Ron DeSantis, where they blame him for not doing enough to vaccinate Floridians.
“In the early weeks of vaccine distribution in Florida, it is clear that @GovRonDeSantis is happy to plan press conferences but hasn’t done the work to plan for mass vaccinations. We need fewer photo ops and more shots,” stated Rep. Ted Deutch.
Over the past several weeks, Gov. DeSantis has unveiled a robust statewide vaccination plan that has been anchored with partnerships with Publix Supermarkets, Walmart, CVS, Walgreens, and private companies.
DeSantis’ vaccination efforts in Florida have outpaced the Biden Administration’s efforts to “ramp up the distribution of vaccines” with Florida pharmacy chains like Publix, Walmart, and Walgreens.
DeSantis has been traversing the state pushing his “Seniors First” vaccine initiative, while Murphy has pointed out that there are just not enough vaccines available to meet the DeSantis vaccination plan.
“Until supply is sufficient to meet demand, we need to make thoughtful choices about how to distribute vaccine doses in the most effective manner in order to save lives,” Murphy wrote.
