With congressional Republicans ready to challenge President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral votes this week, some so-called “Conservative” media outlets have joined Democrats like Florida State Rep. Michael Grieco, in taking issue with the move to challenge or decertify the Electoral College vote.

Rep. Grieco, who is considered a “moderate” and pragmatic legislator from Miami Beach, Florida, echoed the “treason” narrative that many national Democrats have called the effort to overturn the election.

The Floridian spoke to the sophomore legislature this past Monday evening about the GOP move to decertify Biden’s electoral votes.

Grieco said that the challenge amounted to nothing more than “treason” and that the Republican senatorial boogeyman, Sen. Mitt Romney, was a patriot for standing against the call to decertify the votes.

“A challenge to the electors is treason,” said Grieco. “Trump’s rhetoric is sedition. This isn’t about political party, this is about democracy. I disagree with Mitt Romney a lot on policy, but that man is a patriot.”

Since losing the 2020 election in Florida to President Donald Trump and Republicans, centrist Democrats like Greico and State Sen. Jason Pizzo, have been carefully navigating their interactions with many of their friends and colleagues in the state legislature that is considered "far-Left" or "extremist" Progressives.

At least a dozen U.S. Senators and over a hundred House members are expected to challenge the electoral votes on Wednesday. The Floridian will have several reporters on the ground covering the process and the protests that are expected to take place before, during, and after Republicans challenge the 2020 presidential election.

Most recently, Rep. Brian Mast has joined fellow Republican Reps. Byron Donalds, Maria Elvira Salazar, Matt Gaetz, and Kat Cammack, to denounce the election.
