President Joe Biden continues his unprecedented power push to undo many Trump-era executive orders, signing 19 edicts in three days, including the lifting of the controversial ban of transgender individuals allowed to serve in the military.
One of his orders reverses President Donald Trump’s ban of transgender Americans from serving in the U.S. Military
"It is my conviction as Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces that gender identity should not be a bar to military service,” state President Biden. “Moreover, there is substantial evidence that allowing transgender individuals to serve in the military does not have any meaningful negative impact on the Armed Forces."
Florida Rep. Stephanie Murphy (D), like many Democratic lawmakers, is praising Biden’s measure to allow transgender individuals to serve in the U.S. military.
“If an American is willing to put their life on the line to defend this country in our armed forces, we should welcome their service and respect their sacrifice. Period!” stated Rep. Murphy.
Openly-gay Florida Rep. Carlos Guillermo Smith (D) called the ban “baseless and discriminatory.”
“Our military must be focused on decisive and overwhelming … victory and cannot be burdened with the tremendous medical costs and disruption that transgender in the military would entail,” said President Trump in 2019 about the ban.
The cost Trump is referring to is the taxpayer dollars that would be spent to help transgender individual pays for their “transformation.”
