Rubio, Scott call for 'federal standards' for compromised election system

Members of Congress are now calling for federal standards to be implemented so that future elections are no weighted down by voting irregularities and voter fraud that compromised the 2020 presidential election.

President Donald Trump’s lead over former Vice President Joe Biden literally disappear overnight as tens of thousands, possibly hundreds of thousands of ballots appeared after the polls had closed.

Florida’s U.S. Senators Marco Rubio, and Rick Scott, both told The Floridian that they were in favor of installing “federal standards” to the election system in hopes of curbing voter fraud.

“I think one of the strengths of our system is that it is run by individual states and counties, so it makes it virtually hack-proof, you’d have to have hack hundreds of counting systems and so forth, and it makes people accountable,” said Sen. Rubio.

Rubio says that he wants the current election system, which is handled at the state level, to continue, warning that once “you start involving the federal government in our elections” it opens the entire system up to widespread voter fraud.

“I mean if you start involving the federal government in our elections,” said Rubio. “That’s what the Democrats want, they want to create automatic voter registration and mandatory voting requirements like what they have in Europe and other countries and empower themselves of the electoral process.”

Senator Scott recently introduced his Voter Act legislation to install those federaal standards, like having ballots counted within “24 hours after the election polls close on Election Day” and making sure signatures match the ballot.

“What I want them to do is just have national standards, require voter ID, I mean I can't imagine why we don't have you don't have to show an ID to be able to vote,” said Scott. “ So, basically keep everything the same, keep the states running and local municipalities running the elections, only install federal standards.”

The Trump campaign continues to exhaust all of the legal remedies available to them in several of the key battleground states that the president apparently won, but then as we mentioned, lost overnight.
