Eagle Appointed Executive Director of DEO

After falling short in securing the Republican nomination for the November Congressional race for District 19, Florida Rep. Dane Eagle (R) has instead been appointed as Executive Director of the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R).

Eagle, who is Florida House Majority Leader and a Commercial Real Estate Broker, Eagle enters the position with legislative experience along with private sector accountability.

In appointing him to the position, Governor DeSantis commented that “Leader Eagle is an experienced legislator, a family man, and the right choice to lead DEO.” DeSantis added that “the Department has suffered some setbacks, but I have no doubt that Dane is up to the task.” He expressed that Eagle is “personable, enjoys broad bipartisan support,” and the Florida Governor looks “forward to the many successes to come.”

In response, Rep. Eagle thanked Governor DeSantis, saying that he is “humbled and excited to serve Governor DeSantis and the people of Florida in this role.”

As well, Eagle explained that “we enter in precarious times and I look forward to working with my former colleagues to effectuate change and lead DEO into a bright future.”
