Biden rebukes Democrat Supreme Court nominee argument (VIDEO)

Share

The line in the sand has been drawn in the U.S. Senate after President Donald Trump nominated Justice Amy Coney Barrett to replace Justice Ruth Bader Ginsberg in the U.S. Supreme Court.

Republicans from Sens. Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, Ted Cruz, and a score of members of the U.S. House of Representatives, have come out in support of the president’s nominee, and in defense of Judge Barrett.

The wall in defense of Barrett came just as Democrats and unsavory social media personalities have begun to attack Barrett on her record, her religion, her pro-life position, and even for adopting two Haitian children.

Senate Democrats, who voted to confirm Judge Barrett to the U.S. 7th Court of Appeals, will not vote to confirm her to the U.S. Supreme Court simply because she is President Trump’s nominee, and because they believe it could tip the judicial balance on the highest court.

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D) and numerous Senate Democrats are on board using dirty tricks to stall the confirmation process, and will surely use every process at their disposal to muck thinks up for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell's effort to push Trump's nominee through.

Barrett is considered a staunch constitutionalist and conservative, but even if she was a known centrist judge, Democrats still wouldn’t be happy with swapping out one liberal justice with a centrist, let alone a Conservative.

Republicans have the votes to confirm if Barrett passes the expected grueling and colorful nomination hearings, but Democrats are already saying that no matter what she says or how qualified she is, they will not vote to confirm her.

The biggest argument that Democrats make for their opposition to Trump’s pick is that it is being made in an election year, arguing that the decision should be made by the next President of the United States.

But that argument is being rebuked by none other than former U.S. Senator Joe Biden.

In 2016, Vice President Joe Biden made the case for why Trump was in his right to nominee Barrett and reminded Americans that when he was in the U.S. Senate, “every nominee, including Justice Kennedy, in an election year, got an up or down vote in the Senate. Not much of the time. Not most of the time. Every single time.”

Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) posted the very telling video clip of Biden’s position on confirming a Supreme Court nominee.

Watch the video:

Here is the text:

“The Constitution clearly states that the President shall, not may, nominate someone to the Supreme Court when there is a vacancy. That includes the Senate not only consulting with him, but voting…For 17 years, I was the chairman or ranking member of the  Senate Judiciary Committee, which oversees nominations to the Supreme court, and every nominee, including Justice Kennedy, in an election year, got an up or down vote in the Senate. Not much of the time. Not most of the time. Every single time.”

And deciding in advance before we even name a nominee that they are going to turn their backs, that’s not an option the Constitution leaves open. For the sake of the country we all love, we all have to do our job including the U.S. Senate."
