Ego-driven Broward GOP (BREC) continues to fail Republicans

Share

It’s election season and once again the Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC) is showing Floridians just how useless and irrelevant it is.

The “corruption” and cronyism continue to run rampant within the embattled local Broward Republican party, as its leadership continues to endorse Democrats over Republicans to elected office, which is probably why Republican registration is third behind Non-Party Affiliations, or NPA’s.

In other words, the Broward GOP is a waste of space.

According to Michael Coker, one of the four Republicans running to be the next state committeeman told The Floridian his views about the failed leadership of the BREC.

Coker points out that Broward is “the only county”  GOP in the state that is not actively trying to recruit candidates to challenge Democrats.

“Here we are, in the most volatile election in US history, and Broward is still lacking,” said Coker “That is the main reason why we are undermanned, underachieving in Broward County in getting candidates.”

Coker said that current BREC Chairman George Moraitis (pictured), who has broken his loyalty oath by endorsing a Republican over another Republican, told him that the reason his committee does not try to field candidates for all countywide seats and other local races was that “we can’t win those seats.”

"When leadership is asked why they aren’t pushing Republican candidates, they respond saying “we can’t win those seats.” How do they know they can’t win those elections if they aren’t trying? Broward Chair Moraitis said this."- Michael Coker

Coker then tells The Floridian what everyone in the current BREC leadership is living in a  self-serving and ego-driven echo chamber.

“I think BREC is failing to put candidates forward because of their own self-interest. They are boosting their egos. They are doing it for photo ops. They aren’t trying to find candidates. It doesn’t suit them, because when you engage them and talk to them about this, nothing happens,” stated Coker.

He's right. Leadership appears to be more concerned with taking a selfie with an elected official than actually doing their job of helping Republicans get elected.

During a recent off the record meeting between The Floridian and Trump Victory, the president’s re-election campaign does not have much faith in the capabilities of the current Broward GOP leadership and has been brought up to speed to the group’s lack of leadership.

Trump Victory is instead looking to groups like Scott Newmark's Americans for Trump and Club 45 to pick up the pieces the failed BREC left behind.

Coker is also running against Andrew Brett and Robert Sutton for the committeeman job.
