With a newly unveiled 2 trillion-dollar climate agenda, former Vice President Joe Biden (D) continues to make a distinction between himself and President Trump, looking to capture the hearts and minds of voters through the pathos of his presidential agenda.
In an email delivered to supporters, Vice President Biden recounted a story of his early years in office, discussing his time in the United States Senate when he “experienced tragedy that left me a single father of two surviving sons.” He expressed that “Amid life’s uncertainty the last thing I wanted to do was leave Hunter and Beau alone for days on end while I started my new job in Washington, D.C.”
The message comes at a time when skyrocketing COVID-19 cases have struck many states in the country, and parents that are still working are forced to work from home.
The presidential hopeful detailed that he “made the decision that I’d be home to tuck my kids into bed every night and have breakfast with them every morning – which meant traveling four hours roundtrip by train to and from Wilmington, Delaware every day.”
Biden explained that his “commute led me through dozens of neighborhoods, and I couldn’t help but wonder what was going on around the kitchen tables in the countless homes I passed.” He saw himself as “a single dad traveling 120 miles for a new job that gave me the chance to make folks’ lives a little better.”
Now, in vying for the White House, Biden has issued a message of comfort, declaring that he “made a promise to fight for those families like I fought for my own – a promise that motivates me to this day.”
In highlighting the spirit of the American people during this time, he added that “folks nationwide are working hard to ensure a better future for generations to come, and Democrats are fighting relentlessly to make that dream a reality.”
