Pelosi endorses Biden amid sexual assault allegation

Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi (D) has just given her blessing to Joe Biden, endorsing the former vice president for president amid a sexual assault allegation made against him by a former aide last week.

The video endorsement appears to be strategic, as more and more Americans begin to find out about the allegation made against him.

"I'm proud to endorse Joe Biden for president of the United States because he will be an extraordinary president," Pelosi said in the video. "He knows how to get the job done."

Pelosi went on to mention Biden’s work to help craft and implement the Affordable Care Act, and how he has partnered up with Congress to help protect the healthcare plan.

Pelosi also added that throughout the COVID-19 crisis, Biden has been the “voice of reason and resilience” to lead the country out of the pandemic or crisis.

In addition, the speaker said that President Barack Obama had a ‘deep respect’ for Biden even as the former president refrained from endorsing his friend and vice president throughout the Democratic primary election. Obama endorsed Biden only after Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped out of the race.

The ringing endorsement came via video at 5:45 am and first reported by The Washington Post.

Late last week, former Biden aide Tara Reade divulged that her former boss had sexually assaulted her when she worked for him back in the 1990s, saying that she was shocked to see media outlets like CNN not question Biden about her allegation.

Speaking to Fox News, Reade expressed that “it’s shocking that this much time has passed and that he is an actual nominee for president and they’re not asking the questions.”

Reade added that Biden has “been on ‘Anderson Cooper’ at least twice where he was not asked.”

She further questioned, “if this were Donald Trump, would they treat it the same way? If this were Brett Kavanaugh, did they treat it the same way?”

Reade concluded that “it’s politics and political agenda playing a role in objective reporting and asking the question.”

Speaker Pelosi or any other congressional candidate has weighed in on the sexual assault allegation made against Biden. The Biden campaign has already refuted the allegation.
