As the Coronavirus continues to spread across the nation, Florida is quickly becoming one of the states with the most COVID-19 cases. According to the Florida Department of Health, there are some 136 confirmed cases across the state, with four residents already having succumbed to the disease.
Broward and Miami-Dade Counties have the most reported cases with Broward having the most with 35 confirmed COVID-19 patients.
Because Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) and Ted Deutch (D) have many elderly constituents residing within their respective congressional districts, both members have gone over and beyond to keep their constituents safe.
“With multiple confirmed cases of community spread in Broward County, take a moment to review best practices for when you are sick,” stated Rep. Wasserman Schultz
Rep. Deutch has been nothing less than walking and talking spokesman for the CDC, pushing just about all of their recommendations, including expressing his support for the decision to “avoid gatherings of more than 10 people” and cancellations of large events.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) echoed what Wasserman Schultz, Deutch, and other elected officials have been saying, pressing the CDC recommendation that citizens wash their hands, cover their cough or sneeze, and stay home if they are ill with the flu or the COVID-19 virus.
Just last week, House Democrats were critical of the Trump administration's response to testing for the disease, but since the White House announced it has 1.9 million test kits ready to distribute, it appears as if those concerns have been calmed.
