The Coronavirus's impact in Florida just got very very real. With the infection count hitting 173 patients, Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) has decided to declare "Last call" at all bars and clubs, ordering them to shut it down today at 5 pm for 30 days.
Considering how important the tourism trade is to Florida, and how much revenue the state stands to bring in during Spring Break, this announcement is nothing more than a crushing blow to the state's economy.
Rep. Ted Deutch (D) applauds DeSantis' actions, saying that the move was an "important step in protecting public health," but warned that Floridians needed to continue to "avoid all non-essential crowded public spaces," adhere to the call for "social distancing," and "practice good hygiene."
