Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter have notoriously suspended or permanently kicked individuals off of their respective social media platforms for “violating” policy, profanity, and if you ask any Republican, for opposing Democratic or liberal viewpoints or politicians.
The latest case of Facebook (purchased Instagram) booting off or suspending a Conservative Republican happened a week ago when Republican congressional candidate Jessi Melton (pictured), who is running for Congress against Rep. Ted Deutch (D), posted a letter Deutch sent to one of his constituents about the House impeachment hearings.
Minus the address of the constituent, Melton posted the actual letter Deutch sent out and added her own political slant about how Deutch and House Democrats were using “taxpayer dollars to overthrow our President” and to “stomp on our 2nd amendment right to defend our home and country.”
Melton’s Instagram post also asserted that Deutch was a career politician “who lies, steals, and cheats to achieve his personal goals,” an accusation that Deutch himself has made against President Trump.
According to Melton’s congressional campaign, it wasn’t until Melton, who once said Rep. Ilhan Omar was "practicing jihad" in the U.S., penned a letter to Instagram all-but accusing them of playing identity politics, did Instagram remove the temporary block.
“I am unable to like, unlike, follow, unfollow, post photos of my family or block anyone who might pose a threat to my safety,” stated Melton “Since I have neither posted any inappropriate photos of my body nor made threats to anyone, I can only assume these restrictions are because I am a woman.”
