Florida’s “Green” Governor takes another victory lap, as President Donald Trump’s newly-signed federal budget secured the $200 million Gov. Ron DeSantis and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott requested for Everglades restoration earlier this year.
According to DeSantis’ executive office, ”the $200 million federal appropriations secured by President Trump for South Florida Ecosystem Restoration is a $130 million increase in Everglades restoration funding from last year.”
“President Trump has followed through on his promise to deliver for Florida and America’s Everglades,” said Governor DeSantis. “This investment in Everglades restoration will build on our efforts at the state level for critical projects like the EAA Reservoir, the Caloosahatchee Reservoir and the C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area. I look forward to continuing to work with the President and our local, state and federal partners on preserving and restoring Florida’s environment.”
DeSantis campaigned, and is now governing on making Florida greener and cleaner, and has aligned himself with the Everglades Foundation, which is supported by left-leaning political organizations like BullSugar and the Center for Biological Diversity, the group that has sued President Donald Trump over 100 times.
The BullSugar organization is considered a leftist environmentalist group allegedly fronted by individuals like George Soros, Tom Steyer, and Paul Tudor Jones, who have all played a role in trying to influence Florida politics.
Paul Tudor Jones is the founding director of the Everglades Foundation and currently sits on its board of directors.
