It's about the "Universal dream," not the American dream

Appearing at a Bernie Sanders for President rally in Minneapolis, Minnesota, controversial Rep. Ilhan Omar (D) endorsed the popular senator’s presidential campaign and pushed back against President Trump and his agenda.

Rep. Omar fueled the fire of her detractors who believe that she does not believe in an America First, the rest of the world's second, agenda.

In mentioning her personal story of accomplishment by immigrating to the U.S. and becoming a member of Congress, Omar said that her story was a “universal dream” and not an American one.

"Here in Minnesota, we don't just welcome refugees -- we sent them to Congress," Omar said to applause. "Right now, achieving that universal dream feels more out of reach than it ever has in my lifetime."

Omar also backed Sanders’ progressive agenda that pushes a “Green New Deal,” the “Medicare for All” measure, and free federally subsidized healthcare for anyone.

"These are values that have been enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for decades," Omar claimed, referring to the United Nations document. "But, here is the cold truth: We can't achieve any of these goals if we don't build a movement that is representative of all of our aspirations, all of our pain, and all of our shared trauma."
