Wasserman Schultz: Trump "gave new life" to white supremacy

Share

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) is not repeating her assertion that President Donald Trump gave “permission” to “white supremacists and hateful violent bigots to come out from the shadows and act on their hatred,” but she is saying that the president is still saying that the president’s “bigotry continues to stew hate in America.

Rep. Wasserman Schultz believes Americans need to “reverse the effects of Trump’s bigotry.”

Trump gave new life to white supremacist movements,” tweeted Rep. Wasserman Schultz “Last year saw the 3rd highest totals for attacks against Jews since 1979. We must consider how to reverse the effects of Trump's bigotry and end the hate crimes that those beliefs inspire.”

“After so many mass shootings, “something is seriously wrong. And it’s on your hands. It’s on your watch, and the blood is on your hands,” said Wasserman Schultz earlier this year

Wasserman Schultz’s statement that 2018 was the “3rd highest totals of attacks against Jews” is accurate.

According to a recent survey by the American Jewish Committee (AJC) that was reported by CNN, one-third of Jews polled “avoided publicly wearing, carrying or displaying things that might help people identify them as Jews.”

The poll was taken after a recent rash of anti-Semitic attacks at synagogues, including the shootings in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Poway, California.
