Harris condemns Trump's "lynching" comment, forgets she used the term

President Trump's use of the term "lynching"  to describe the current impeachment inquiry effort against him has once again, landed the 45th president of the United States in a bit of hot water.

"So someday, if a Democrat becomes President and the Republicans win the House, even by a tiny margin, they can impeach the President, without due process or fairness or any legal rights," said President Turmp "All Republicans must remember what they are witnessing here - a lynching. But we will WIN"

Several (expect more) 2020 Democratic presidential candidates, including Sen. Kamala Harris, have condemned the remark, saying that the president's invoking "that torture to whitewash his own corruption" was disgraceful.

"Lynching is a reprehensible stain on this nation's history, as is this President We'll never erase the pain and trauma of lynching, and to invoke that torture to whitewash your own corruption is disgraceful."-Sen. Kamala Harris

Unfortunately for Sen. Harris, she forgot that she once used the very same "reprehensible stain" and "disgraceful" term when she defended Jussie Smollett, the actor who made up an elaborate story (lie) that he was assaulted in Chicago because of his sexuality and color.

Harris tweeted back in January that Smollett was "one of the kindest, most gentle human beings I know," adding that she was "praying for his quick recovery. This was an attempted modern day lynching. No one should have to fear for their life because of their sexuality or color of their skin. We must confront this hate." 

According to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, the term "lynching" is defined as  being the act "to put to death (as by hanging) by mob action without legal approval or permission."

Over the years, lynching has been used against both black and white individuals, but because it was more prominently used against Americans Blacks, Harris and others could be trying to add to the existing narrative that Trump is a racist.

Florida Congresswoman Debbie Mucarsel-Powell (D) also took issue with Trump's comment,  stating that "It is absolutely disgusting that the President would compare an honest investigation into his conduct to the brutal murder and torture of people of color. We will not be distracted by the President’s appalling racial attacks."
