Rep. Ted Deutch (D) has challenged Senator Marco Rubio (R), a member of the Senate Committee on Intelligence, to tell Floridian’s where he stands on impeaching President Trump.
Only members of the Senate and House intelligence committees have been given access to the secret “whistleblower” complaint.
Deutch responded to Sen. Rubio’s tweet warning about how “divisive & destructive” impeachment is, asking him,” We’ve all had the transcript for 11 hours. You’ve had access to the whistleblower complaint for 5. Care to update Floridians on where their senator stands now?”
“Impeachment is an extraordinary measure that should be employed with caution & on the basis of facts,” stated Rubio “It nullifies an election & is deeply divisive & disruptive. And yet many didn’t even wait to read the transcripts or the complaint before making up their minds.”
Deutch, who has been calling for Trump’s impeachment long before Speaker Nancy Pelosi formal impeachment inquiry announcement this week, does not seem moved with the recent release of the transcript of the phone call between President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky
The transcript debunked several allegations that the whistleblower alleged, but now Democrats are pointing to the president asking Zelensky for “a favor” as the smoking gun.
Democrats alleged that Trump pressured Zelensky to do his bidding, but Zelensky himself said that "Nobody pushed me."
The whistleblower complaint may be released to the public as soon as Thursday morning.
