Rep. Ted Deutch
After years of feeling political pressure and opposition from liberal Democrats across the country, Walmart, the world’s largest retailer is now feeling unprecedented praise from those same Democratic detractors over its newly announced gun sales policy.
The retail giant cave to Democratic and gun violence pressure, and has announced that it would stop selling all firearm ammunition and would not allow customers to openly carry a firearm.
Walmart’s decision to change is gun policy comes after several mass shootings that occurred around the country over the past month or so.
“My problem with Wal-Mart is that I don’t see any indication that they care about the fate of middle-class people,” Joe Biden said in 2006, standing on the sweltering rooftop of the State Historical Society building here. “They talk about paying them $10 an hour. That’s true. How can you live a middle-class life on that?”
Florida U.S. Rep. Ted Deutch (D), as strong advocate for gun violence awareness, is elated over Walmart’s decision to stop selling ammunition, saying that Walmart has listened to “the American people and has made customer safety a priority.”
Deutch has vowed to go back to Washington early and push his “high capacity magazine” bill, along with other “gun violence” bills in the House Judiciary Committee.
Deutch, along with Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Donna Shalala, Debbie Mucarsel-Powell, Stephanie Murphy, and other members of Florida’s House Democratic Caucus, have been stewing over the passing of a House background check bill that has stalled in the U.S. Senate.
Democrats are all over the gun violence issue, but many Floridian’s living in Deutch’s congressional district are wondering what, if anything, can be done about the invasive iguana problem in East Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Some of these reptiles are so big that they pass for small dinosaurs.
