President Donald Trump continued his all-out assault against Muslim-American Reps. Ilhan Omar (D) and Rashida Tlaib (D), after Israel, denied them entry into the country.
Shortly after Israel made its decision to keep Omar and Tlaib out, Trump ripped into the two congresswomen stating:
“It would show great weakness if Israel allowed Rep. Omar and Rep.Tlaib to visit. They hate Israel & all Jewish people, & there is nothing that can be said or done to change their minds. Minnesota and Michigan will have a hard time putting them back in office. They are a disgrace!”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu released a statement, saying that “the plan of the two Congresswomen is only to damage Israel and to foment against Israel.”
Rep. Omar response to Israel all-but reiterated what Netanyahu said, as Omar laid into the Jewish state, saying that Israel created “brutal realities” in its “occupation” of the Palestinian land.
Prior to departing to a campaign rally in New Hampshire, Trump was asked by reporters why he felt the need to involve himself with the trip to Israel.
Trump responded by calling Omar and Tlaib “disgraceful,” and question why Israel would ever reconsider letting enter.
Here is the transcript of what the president said:
Well, I'm only involved from the standpoint of they are very anti-Jewish and they're very anti-Israel. I think it's disgraceful, the things they've said. You have lists of -- and this isn't just a one-line mistake; what they've said about Israel and Jewish people is a horrible thing. And they've become the face of the Democrat Party.
So I did absolutely put out a very strong statement. I think, if you look at their language, if you look at what they've said, if I ever said it, it would be a -- it would be a horrible -- it would be a horrible month, to put it mildly.
So the things that they've said -- Omar, Tlaib -- what they've said is disgraceful. So I can't imagine why Israel would let them in. But if they want to let them in, they can. But I can't imagine why they would do it.
