Just as scientists and meteorologists forecast Hurricane Dorian to become a major storm that will probably impact Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis proactively declared a state of emergency to give local authorities ample time to get all of the resources in place.
DeSantis stated that he spoke to President Donald Trump and updated him on the state's storm preparedness, adding that the president reassured him that Florida had his administration full support.
DeSantis has previously asked the president for more federal assistance to help Floridians still recovering from Hurricane Irma.
The Governor's executive office has yet to announce any changes in his or Lt. Gov. Jeanette Nunez's official schedule, but due to the growing threat and fluidity of the situation, we can only assume that plans will be changed.
