It took a force of nature to get Florida’s entire congressional delegation to come together on an issue they have no choice but to agree on.
With Hurricane Dorian expected to make landfall in Florida as Category 4 storm, Sens. Marco Rubio (R) and Rick Scott (R) to the lead, and in full support of Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) wrote a letter to President Donald Trump asking him to approve the pre-landfall emergency declaration for Hurricane Dorian that DeSantis has asked for.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has already issued an Emergency Declaration for all 67 counties in the State of Florida.
“Floridians are still recovering from storms like Hurricane Irma and Michael,” stated Rep. Ross Spano (R) “Preparation has proven to make a significant difference in public health and safety, as well as protecting property. It’s important to be proactive so Floridians get the help they need to prepare and recover. I am grateful FEMA has issued an emergency declaration ahead of the storm so that federal resources are available to assist our state and local response efforts.”
“Florida is no stranger to major storms, especially within the last three years in which the state was hit by Hurricanes Michael, Irma, Hermine, and Matthew. As Floridians continue to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of these previous storms, federal resources are paramount to ensuring an effective response to Hurricane Dorian. Preparation has proven to be critical in protecting property and the public health and safety of potential victims of a major storm. As such, we urge you to approve the State of Florida’s request for a pre-landfall emergency declaration that will provide the assistance necessary to ensure the safety of Floridians.”- Sens. Rubio and Scott
Don’t expect to see too many of these to be signed while President Trump is in office.
This is a very rare moment to see the signatures of all of Florida’s congressional caucus support any cause.
