Trump Keeps Winning...

As the Asian markets crumble and Communist China's already devalued national currency plummets to an 11-year low because of the latest wave of tariff's the administration has levied on the Chinese, Beijing is not looking to end the trade war.

The Trump administration is more than likely doing a victory dance in the Oval Office as their big economic gamble seems to finally be paying off for them....

For 2020 Democratic presidential candidates "mum" is the word when it comes to talking about Trump's trade war with China. Democrats work and our supported by Big Labor, may of which reside throughout the Rust belt of the country, so it would not benefit them to attack the president over his efforts to even the trade playing field.

Here are the candidate's current positions on the China trade war (Axios):

  • Former Vice President Joe Biden's foreign policy and climate plans also lay out detailed ways that Biden would target China's climate abuses and make Americans jobs more competitive.
  • South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg outlined specific areas in which he would work to make the U.S. more competitive with on a domestic level to compete with China, including major infrastructure investments and revised trade and export policies.
  • The others, like Sens. Elizabeth Warren, Kirsten Gillibrand and Amy Klobuchar, offered broad statements on how the U.S. could be more aggressive toward China's trade abuses and develop a better relationship with America's allies to further those efforts. But they offered no substantive strategy or new areas to address.
  • Sens. Kamala Harris and Cory Booker, Rep. Tim Ryan and former HUD Secretary Julián Castro did not respond to multiple requests for comment. Former Rep. Beto O'Rourke declined to comment.

Ron DeSantis
Ron DeSantis/ The Floridian

To vote fairly or not to vote. That is the question...

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) has made this a top priority, which is one of the few political issues that has seen bipartisan support in a growing and divisive political landscape.

Florida is a member of the Electronic Registration Information Center, known as ERIC, and the state will be able to flag people that are registered to vote in more than one state, which will give election supervisors an opportunity to expunge ineligible voters from the rolls. READ MORE...

The Lt. Gov. position in Florida has long been considered a ceremonial role for whoever held the job, but things are very different now under the DeSantis administration as Lt. Gov Jeanette Nunez is making the rounds around the state as if she was governor.

Nunez is just as active as DeSantis, which could only alleviate the pressure put on DeSantis. Nunez will be in Hialeah today to visit with Miami-Dade Commissioner Esteban Bovo to recognize the Bay of Pigs mission.

Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody has joined a new nationwide effort with other attorneys general to crack down on those annoying robocalls. Moody says that she is taking "aggressive action to prevent and investigate illegal robocalls."

Speaker Jose Oliva (R) is not going to entertain a request to convene a special session of the Florida legislature just to address gun violence.

“While I’m sure this request for special session is sincere and well-intentioned, stated Oliva" We must always strive to do something right rather than just do something. We have committee weeks coming up and regular session shortly thereafter.

The first of several committee weeks will take place the week of September 15th.

Great respect for the fact that President Xi & his Representatives want “calm resolution.” So impressed that they are willing to come out & state the facts so accurately. This is why he is a great leader & representing a great country. Talks are continuing!

The Admin's decision to end the #FloresSettlement to allow indefinite detention of migrant families & kids is an insult to American values, basic human rights & child welfare standards. This policy of intentional cruelty & family incarceration must end!

2 alleged shooting threats at separate Florida schools end in arrests on same day

Two Florida students in separate parts of the state were arrested Thursday after they allegedly posted school shooting threats online.

In Broward County -- the same district as the 2018 Parkland school shooting where 17 were killed -- an officer said he learned Wednesday night from the school board about a school shooting threat posted on the messaging app Discord.

According to the Broward County police report, the threat said, "I want to shoot up a school. This is a genuine feeling. I want people to suffer. ... I wish to see those I haven't shot shake in fear and scream and cry at such a heinous act. Then see the shock on their faces once I've shot them too."

A Nova High School student was arrested Thursday and charged with false report of bomb or explosion, according to the police report. READ MORE
