Since the Iraq War began, defense contractors have served an important support role for the U.S. Military, but many liberal Democrats nationwide have painted a dark picture of these veteran-led groups.

Congressional Democrats see things differently and much clearer than their more liberal-minded friends, as many elected officials support the practice of defense contracting.

The Department of Defense (DOD) has mission requirements all over the world, and many of these tasks cannot be conducted by uniformed military personnel.

Remember, these contractors are former military who have combat and real-world experience, so their partnership with the U.S. military is vital to the overall national security of the country.

Florida is home to hundreds of defense contractors, and according to Democratic Rep. Charlie Crist, 800 of them reside in Pinellas County alone.

“Did you know we have over 800 defense contractors here in Pinellas, many of them veteran-owned?” questioned Crist “Happy to sit down with representatives of this growing industry – American innovation keeping our service members safe!”

Crist acknowledges how important contractors are, as he recently sat down with a group of them to discuss how their support keeps U.S. military personnel safe.

One of the biggest contractors is Melbourne-based Harris Corp.which provides avionics and tactical communications to the military.

Harris has been a big contributor to many congressional campaigns, including those of other Florida members of Congress.

Crist, along with Reps. Stephanie Murphy, Kathy Castor, and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, all receive campaign donations from Harris Corp during the 2018 fiscal year.
