Scott doubts Trump-China deal will happen

President Trump seems to have soften his stance on Huawei, easing restrictions his administration levied on the Chinese company during the G20 summit in Osaki, Japan.

Both of Florida’s Senators, Marco Rubio and Rick Scott, have expressed their concerns over the move to allow American companies to sell to Huawei, the tech giant suspected of partnering with the Chinese government to spy on U.S. interests.

Rubio has threatened Trump with filing legislation to reinstall those restriction, and Scott doesn’t think a deal will ever take place with China, which would mean that the ongoing trade war will continue.

Appearing On CNBC, Scott said the he “thinks it’s great” that President Trump has a good relationship with Chinese President Xi, but sees including Huawei in any deal as being a non-starter.

When asked if the Chinese were to stipulate that Huawei had to be part of a trade deal, should president trump continue with the deal or raise tariffs?

“First of all, I don’t think there will be a deal,” said Scott “They are stealing technology, they negotiated a deal then walked back, clearly there is no way we are going to let Huawei to enter the American market from a national security stand point.”

Scott added that he believes “having the conversation” with China is a positive, and that Trump is “holding China accountable” with the tariffs he has levied.

“I think it’s going to be awfully difficult” to make a deal with China, said Scott.
