Biden's polling numbers continue falling

Share

The field of 2020 Democratic presidential candidates is breathing a little easier this weekend, as the third poll in less than two weeks shows frontrunner Joe Biden’s lead slipping.

The latest Des Moines Register/CNN poll has Biden up by only 8-points over Senator Bernie Sanders, and only 9-points ahead of Elizabeth Warren.

Mayor Pete Buttigieg is right there in the mix, trailing Biden by only 10-points.

A little over a week ago, a CNN public opinion poll showed that VP Joe Biden’s lead over the rest of the field had dropped to 14-points.

Days after the CNN came out, The Economist/YouGov poll of 1500 Americans showed that Biden’s lead over Sen. Bernie Sanders dropped another 2-points.

This is clear trend that should have Team Biden thinking about the next pivot, as he stands to continue losing his party’s political base, especially after his apparent flip-flop on his support of the Hyde Amendment.

The Hyde Amendment is a measure that bars federal subsidization of abortion, except to save the life of the mother, or if the mother became pregnant due to rape or incest.

"There’s no political or ideological excuse for Joe Biden’s support for the Hyde Amendment, which translates into discrimination against poor women and women of color plain and simple," Ilyse Hogue, president of NARAL Pro-Choice America, said in a statement released Wednesday.

EMILY's List President Stephanie Schriock said in a separate statement that Biden's stance is "unacceptable" and noted that "Democrats made repealing the Hyde Amendment part of our 2016 platform."-NBC News

Several of Biden’s primary opponents smell blood in the water, as the winner of the presidential primary will have to win over the pro-choice, progressive and liberal factions within their party.

Advantage: Everyone but Biden.
