President Trump is en route to the U.S. southern border, but before taking off on Air Force One, the president announced that he “liked tariffs” and that instead of closing the border with Mexico, he would tack on a 25% tariff on cars coming out of Mexico, if that country failed to address the illegal immigration issue.

Trump’s threat to hit Mexico with tariffs will be predicated on how Mexico responds to their illegal immigration issue. According to Trump, “Mexico has been absolutely terrific the past four days” by cracking down and apprehending illegal immigrants trying to cross into the U.S.

The president added that if those tariffs didn’t work, he would “shut down the border.”
