Shortly after Republican Ben Crenshaw (R-TX) called out Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) for her insensitive and questionable 9/11 remark, where she referred to the terrorists as “some people who did something,” Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came out in defense of her friend Omar.
Ocasio-Cortez took aim at Crenshaw, questioning why he doesn’t do something to address “right-wing extremists” who carried out “ALL US domestic terrorist killings” in 2018.
Here is what AOC tweeted:
"You refuse to cosponsor the 9/11 Victim’s Compensation Fund, yet have the audacity to drum resentment towards Ilhan w/completely out-of-context quotes. In 2018, right-wing extremists were behind almost ALL US domestic terrorist killings. Why don’t you go do something about that?"-Rep. Ocasio-Cortez
Her suggestion that Crenshaw do something about terrorism is highly questionable, considering the he is a former U.S. Navy SEAL, who lost his eye fighting terrorists in Afghanistan, earning 2 Bronze Stars (one with Valor), the Purple Heart, the Navy Commendation Medal with Valor.
