With all the pressing foreign and domestic issues that legislators in Washington must address, it’s unfortunate that so much time is being expended on addressing anti-Semitic comments recently made federally elected officials.

Congressional Democrats have been on the hot seat of late, having to distance themselves from one of their own, Rep. Ilhan Omar, after her anti-Semitic remarks cast a dark cloud over the nation’s Capital.

There was no defense for Omar, even though some of her fellow freshman congresswoman came to her defense, Speaker Pelosi and other veteran representatives like Debbie Wasserman Schultz, condemned her comments.

Realizing just how bad Omar’s comments have hurt their party, Democrats have now pivoted from a defensive position to an offensive one.

First, instead of openly denouncing Omar’s anti-Semitic remarks in a recent declaration, House Democrats refused to single her out in a generalized statement they made against hate.

Now, Florida Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) is targeting President Donald Trump, saying that remarks he alleged made to some Republicans donors in Palm Beach, Florida, “jeopardizes Jewish lives.”

Trump is said to have told a group of supporters that Democrats “The Democrats hate Jewish people” when the topic of Omar came up.

“He is a hypocrite. He has perpetuated anti-Semitism himself, and now what he is doing is even worse. He is, instead of trying to use the platform that he has to heal the situation, and calm the waters and bring people together, he’s dangerously weaponizing anti-Semitism as a political bludgeon, and that jeopardizes Jewish lives.”-Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D)

Wasserman Schultz was quickly joined by Rep. Alcee Hastings (D) In condemning the president’s alleged comment, who said that Trump has “again invoked racist, insulting tropes, politicized anti-Semitism & suggested that American Jews are more loyal to Israel.”

While Democrats were trying to turn the anti-Semitism narrative against Republicans, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R) was already questioning Democrats over their exhaustive push to continue investigating the Trump Administration over “Russian collusion” and anything Trump might have laid his eyes on.

Gaetz pointed to a 2017 Associated Press story that outed the Obama Administration of arguably funding Islamic terrorism and jeopardizing “Jewish lives” when it gave hundreds of millions of dollars to “Palestinian-affiliated group,” some of which “employ many members of Hamas.” with ties to terrorist groups

“Foreign aid to terrorist organizations? No hearings. No document requests. No subpoenas.- Rep. Matt Gaetz (R)

With Democratic Reps. Omar and Rashida Tlaib having openly expressed their disdain toward Israel in past statements, and House Democrats running cover for Omar’s remarks, are Democrats anti-Israel, or is Trump the real racist or anti-Semite that he has been painted as being?
