VP Pence Talks Venezuela in Doral

Share

Vice President Mike Pence took a trip to Doral on Friday in order to bolster up support for Venezuela. Governor Ron DeSantis, Liuetenant Jeanette Nuñez and Senators Marco Rubio and Rick Scott also joined the Vice President throughout the day, and it comes at a time when pressure is growing against the Maduro Regime after Juan Guaido declared himself the constitutional interim President of Venezuela.

Vice President Pence spoke at a church in the Doral suburb, assuring that “this is not time for dialogue. It is time to end the Maduro regime.”

Senator Rubio also added that “Maduro has got big problems. This is not like the other times. You’ve made a terrible enemy in Donald Trump.”

The Vice President informed the crowd that the Trump administration would continue its efforts to put diplomatic pressure on Maduro to ensure that he ceases power and restores democracy in Venezuela.

In the day he had also spoken to many victims that had fled Venezuela, and Pence relayed to the crowd that “to all these courageous men and women, to all of you who have fled Venezuela, we are with you and I promise we will stay with you until you can safely return home.”

Shortly after Guaido made his declaration, leaders began to pour in showing their support by declaring that they acknowledged him as Venezuela’s interim President. Then, it was announced that the United States was hitting Venezuela’s state-owned oil company with sanctions.

As protesters get ready to hit the streets over the weekend in support of Guaido in Venezuela, Vice President Pence once again asserted that “this is no time for dialogue. This is time for action. And the time has come to end the Maduro dictatorship once and for all.”

Noticeably absent from the event were Democratic members of Congress, but Terrie Rizzo, the head of the Florida Democratic Party issued a statement in response to the event. Rizzo assured that “lawmakers in Washington and in Tallahassee have been working in a bipartisan fashion to help secure Temporary Protected Status for Venezuelans, and humanitarian aid for those suffering at the hands of the Maduro Regime.”
