Tim Canova Calls for Debbie Wasserman Schultz's Removal From Office

Debbie Wasserman Schultz, a controversial political figure that’s heading back to office after winning reelection to Florida’s 23rd congressional district, is facing backlash from her 2018 political rival and nemesis, Tim Canova. The independent candidate has been challenging her since 2016, and he has called out the Democrat congresswoman for using shady tactics in order to win.

Canova is now calling on Congress to “declare the election results so unreliable as to be invalid and vacate the seat currently held by Wasserman Schultz.”

He argues that “as a result of machine error, malicious programming, malfunction and/or misfeasance coupled with election administration error the results of his election are cast in serious doubt and do not reflect the will of the voters of Florida.”

In addition, Canova also calls into question the actions of another controversial figure in Florida politics, saying that “actions of misconduct by Dr. Brenda Snipes, the Broward County Supervisor of Elections and other Florida and Broward election officials… require that the election be set aside.”

He continues, explaining that “Snipes failed to safeguard the chain of custody of the paper ballots cast in Broward County for this election, and the scope of this issue is sufficient to change or place in doubt the results of this election as now certified.”

For quite some time, Canova has launched a social media attack on Wasserman Schultz, calling for transparency to the election process in Broward County.

In the 2016 election, after losing to Wasserman Schultz, Canova asked for the ballots to be inspected. After suing and having the lawsuit pending, Canova argues that the Broward Elections Supervisor destroyed all the ballots cast.

In that same 2016 election, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders endorsed Canova, saying that “Clearly I favor her opponent, his views are much closer to mine than to Wasserman Schultz’s.” This time around however Sanders was not on the Canova train, saying “I have no idea about Tim Canova, I honestly don’t. I know nothing about Tim Canova.”

Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz has not responded to Canova's recent claim.
