“There’s not going to be any wall money in the legislation,”said Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi during her first full interview of her term.
With that statement, it appears as if Pelosi will continue to stand her ground against the president’s request for funding of the southern border wall he campaigned on.
Trump hit back at Pelosi, telling the New York Times that he believes Speaker Pelosi is “doing a tremendous disservice to the country,” adding, “if she doesn’t approve the wall, the rest of it’s just a waste of money and time and energy because it’s desperately needed.”
“I think Nancy Pelosi is hurting our country very badly by doing what’s she doing and, ultimately, I think I’ve set the table very nicely,” the president added in the interview in the Oval Office.
Trump also recorded a video he posted on Twitter where he reiterated the need for a southern border wall and broader border security measures to accompany it.

The president only focused on human trafficking, a immigration issue that has now taken center stage, as bipartisan legislation has been filed to help law enforcement identify child sex traffickers.
