With the government shutdown reaching the end of its first week, it doesn’t appear that Democrats and Republicans are any closer to reaching a compromise that will open the federal government back up.
Trump boasted that he would own the shutdown, and later blamed Democrats for it.
Democrats, who have been all too willing to force-feed Trump his shutdown statement, and have not budged one bit, are not expected to do so once the new congress takes over in early January 2019.
Florida Congresswoman Lois Frankel tweeted her thoughts about the Scrooge-like tactics she believes the president has used to shut down the government.
"I am proud to shut down the government... I will take the mantle. I will be the one to shut it down." Enough is enough, Mr. President - or should I say Scrooge - end this ridiculous stunt and open our government. No wall!"
Frankel’s fellow Democratic colleagues in the U.S. House of Representatives, Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Alcee Hastings, Stephanie Murphy, and Ted Deutch, have all taken a #Trumpshutdown jab at the president.
