Marco Rubio still a big fish in Florida, nation

Share

Boynton Beach, FL-Shortly before Florida Governor Rick Scott addressed 200 of his closest supporters of his U.S. Senate campaign, several hardcore Trump backers jokingly questioning if Senator Marco Rubio was still a viable political figure.

The comments arose after they found out that Rubio was at the DeSantis for governor rally at Versailles restaurant in Miami, Florida earlier that day.

Because Rubio lost all but one (Miami-Dade) Florida counties to Donald Trump in the 2016 Republican presidential primary election, these Trump supports believe that Rubio is irrelevant, and has also hurt himself by disagreeing with Trump from time to time.

Yes, he lost to Trump, but in the U.S. Senate, Rubio has become somewhat of a giant in the senate, or as Cubans would say, “un leon”(Lion).

Rubio is also the most popular Republican alongside Rick Scott in the state. Every Republican running for office would kill for Rubio's endorsement because of the weight it brings.

Why do you think DeSantis, Patronis, Moody, and many other Republicans across the country have cozied up, and are campaigning with Rubio?

Rubio is wholeheartedly backing the Trump agenda, and has positioned himself as one of the president’s go-to “hombres” every time some senatorial flare up occurs, especially on issues of intelligence and foreign affairs.

But regardless of what Rubio does in the Senate to further Trump’s agenda, it seems as if the “Trumpsters” or purists of the GOP will always down “Little Marco” for opposing Trump.

Rubio has said that he wouldn’t run for any other office except for President of the United States, but if he does decide to run, it won’t be against in a primary against President Trump.

While there are national Republicans who are threatening to primary challenge Trump in 2020, Rubio says he’s not one of them.

“I’m not primarying the president, and no one else should either unless we want to lose the White House…I’m kind of approaching every day as if the U.S. Senate is the last place I’ll ever serve in public office and trying to make that meaningful.”-Sen. Marco Rubio to the AP.
