Regardless of the opposition to her probable speakership roll she is receiving from new House Democrats, Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D) continues to lay the groundwork for her re-ascension to Speaker of the U.S.House of Representatives.
Some say she is a shoe in for the job, others like Rep-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D), who recently joined in on a protest outside of Pelosi’s Washington, D.C. office, have expressed their willingness to oppose her.
But with all that said, Pelosi is very popular among the Democratic House Caucus, and with the help of some of loyal colleagues like Florida Reps. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Ted Deutch, Alcee Hastings, and Lois Frankel, some of the newbies in the House could be persuaded to back Pelosi.
Deutch and Wasserman Schultz have been two of Pelosi’s most ardent supporters.
